On Wednesday, representatives of Ukraine, Russia, and the USA are preparing for a meeting in Abu Dhabi to discuss the cessation of the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine, reports LETA citing DPA and 'Ukrainska Pravda'.
Direct negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv resumed on February 23 and 24 after a long hiatus, mediated by U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Whitcoff, and were held behind closed doors. Although the parties have repeatedly described these negotiations as constructive, there is no indication that an agreement to end the war will be reached in the near future.
The next round of negotiations in Abu Dhabi was scheduled for last Sunday but was postponed to this week.
The talks are expected to take place today and tomorrow, with the Ukrainian delegation once again led by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov.
The Kremlin stated that the composition of the Russian delegation will remain unchanged, once again headed by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU), Igor Kostyukov.
The White House confirmed on Tuesday that Whitcoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner will participate in the negotiations.
