After the victory of the Latvia national team over Hungary (8:1) and 4:1 in the second period of the USA-Austria match, the pairs of quarter-finalists are already almost clear. Currently, they look like this:
Switzerland — Slovakia; Finland — Czech Republic; Norway — Latvia; Canada — USA.
For the Latvia national team, the situation could change if the Austrians manage to turn the tide of the match against the Americans - which is hard to believe - and the Czech Republic sensationally defeats the Canadians in the last match of Group B. Then the Czechs would face Latvia.
According to the head coach of the Latvia ice hockey team, Harijs Vītoliņš, our team is ready to meet any opponent.
