The unstable situation in the Middle East may negatively impact carriers in Latvia, the Road Transport Directorate (ATD) reported.
The Directorate explained that signals from analysts in various sectors compel a careful assessment of the continuity of services in Latvia, as prolonged instability will also lead passenger carriers to face rising resource costs.
Thus, the ATD states its readiness to work together with the industry to seek solutions and to approach the Ministry of Transport for the allocation of necessary financial resources.
The ATD, which oversees passenger transport across Latvia, also plans to address the issue of transitioning to annual price indexation in long-term contracts in the near future. In the current conditions, this is an urgent necessity for the industry — both to overcome the existing situation and to ensure the continuity of services in the future.
The ATD is the implementer of a unified state policy in the field of international transport, licensing of commercial road transport, and public transport planning.
As previously reported, starting Saturday, February 28, Israel and the United States struck hundreds of targets in Iran, attacking missile launchers, facilities related to Tehran's nuclear program, military headquarters, and political leaders. During the attack on Saturday, the supreme leader of Iran's theocratic regime, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was eliminated.
