On the night before Sunday, brief rain showers are expected in many areas of Latvia, with thunderstorms and fog possible in some places. During the day, the weather will remain cool for mid-June, with air temperatures not rising above +17 degrees.
After relatively warm days, residents of Latvia are facing cooler and wetter weather.
According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, the night before Sunday will be predominantly cloudy, with only occasional clearings possible. Brief rain showers are expected in many areas, and thunderstorms cannot be ruled out in some places.
Due to light winds, fog may form in certain areas, which could significantly reduce visibility on the roads during the night and morning hours. The minimum air temperature at night will range from +7 to +12 degrees.
During the day, cloudy weather will persist across almost the entire country. Brief rain showers are again expected in many places, with thunderstorms possible in some areas. It will feel particularly cool for mid-June, with maximum air temperatures only reaching +12 to +17 degrees.
For many residents, this weather will feel more like the end of spring than the beginning of the calendar summer.
In Riga, predominantly cloudy weather with brief rain showers is expected at night. The air temperature will be around +11...+12 degrees. During the day, the capital will also remain cloudy, with precipitation possible in some areas. The air will warm up to only +15...+16 degrees.
Meteorologists note that strong winds are not expected; however, the light air movement will contribute to fog formation and the maintenance of cool weather.
Those planning to spend Sunday outdoors or at open-air events should take an umbrella and warmer clothing than usually required in mid-June.
