On Saturday, for the first time since the beginning of the war, a missile was launched from Yemen towards Israel, the Israeli armed forces reported, according to LETA citing DPA.
The army stated early in the morning that the air defense system was activated, and according to media reports, the missile was successfully intercepted.
At the beginning of the war, the Iran-backed Yemeni group Houthis promised "full and unwavering solidarity" with Tehran. Recently, concerns have grown that Islamist militants may intervene in the conflict from Yemen.
Previously, the Houthis have repeatedly attacked commercial vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
These waterways are the main connection between the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean and one of the most important trade routes in the world.
