Unknown individuals have seized a vessel anchored off the coast of the UAE near the Strait of Hormuz. According to British maritime services, it is now heading towards the territorial waters of Iran amid a sharp escalation of the situation in the region.

A new dangerous incident has occurred in the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing crisis between Iran, the United States, and Israel.

According to the British Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), unknown individuals have seized a vessel that was anchored approximately 70 kilometers northeast of the emirate of Fujairah in the UAE.

According to British sources, after the seizure, the vessel began moving towards the territorial waters of Iran.

It is still unclear who is behind the operation and which vessel is involved. No official comments have been received from Iran so far.

The incident occurred in one of the most tense maritime areas in the world — the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world's oil and gas supplies passes.

Any attacks or seizures of vessels in this region immediately raise concerns in global markets and among shipping companies.

The situation in the strait has sharply deteriorated since the outbreak of war between the US, Israel, and Iran at the end of February.

According to AFP, Iran has significantly restricted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, while the US continues its maritime blockade of Iranian ports, despite a fragile ceasefire in effect since April.

Against this backdrop, attacks and incidents involving vessels are becoming more frequent.

Just in recent days, South Korea reported an attack by an unidentified aircraft on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz, while Qatari authorities announced that a drone had struck another commercial vessel arriving from Abu Dhabi.

In fact, shipping in the region is gradually becoming one of the most vulnerable points in the global conflict in the Middle East.

This is particularly sensitive for global trade, as large volumes of oil, liquefied gas, and other strategic cargoes pass through the Strait of Hormuz daily.

Currently, international agencies are focused on whether they can establish the circumstances of the vessel's seizure and avoid further escalation in the strait.
