The subject of the dispute is the temple complex.

Bangkok will continue military operations along the disputed border with Cambodia, despite claims by U.S. President Donald Trump of a ceasefire agreement, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated on Facebook.

"Thailand will continue military actions until we feel that our land and people are no longer threatened. I want to make this clear," he wrote.

The source of tension at the Thailand-Cambodia border remains a dispute that has lasted for over a hundred years, including over the Preah Vihear temple complex, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 1962, the International Court of Justice ruled that the temple belongs to Cambodia, but Thailand did not recognize the decision and still claims the complex.

At the end of July, Trump stated that he would end the conflict between Cambodia and Thailand within 24 hours. Clashes at the border began on July 24 after a landmine explosion, injuring five Thai soldiers. Both sides accused each other of escalating the conflict. In recent days, Cambodia and Thailand have exchanged fire with heavy weaponry along the border, Reuters reports.

Trump previously stated that after phone talks with Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, the parties agreed to a ceasefire. However, neither of the leaders confirmed this in their statements. The Thai Prime Minister emphasized that there were no agreements as announced by the Republican.
