Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in which he proposed to initiate a direct negotiation process and hold a personal meeting to discuss ending the war.

Putin stated that he "quickly" reviewed Zelensky's letter yesterday evening and criticized it. "Peskov handed me this paper. I glanced through it," said Putin.

He mentioned that the method of communication chosen by Zelensky is incorrect. "Kyiv deemed it possible to move to a public discussion, and that is completely wrong," said Putin.

He also stated that he sees no point in meeting with Zelensky at this time. "I see no sense in us meeting; the Ukrainian side's goal is to stop our offensive, while we need agreements," declared Putin.

He also asserted that Zelensky's letter contains "elements of rudeness." Putin considers this as "creating conditions that make a meeting between the leaders impossible."
