This occurred just two weeks after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the signing of the agreement.
A representative of the Thai government stated on November 10 that the ceasefire has been suspended after soldiers were injured as a result of a landmine explosion near the border with Cambodia in Sisaket province.
According to Thai Prime Minister Anuthin Charnvirakul, this incident shows that hostility towards the country's security has not diminished. He emphasized that the commitments under the agreement are suspended until Thailand's demands are met.
It is worth recalling that the Prime Ministers of Thailand and Cambodia signed a declaration to end the border conflict in the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump at the ASEAN summit in Malaysia.
Both countries then committed to cease military actions and establish good neighborly relations. Thailand was to release 18 prisoners of war, while Cambodia agreed to withdraw heavy military equipment from the border.
