The U.S. plans to extend the exemption from American sanctions on operations with Russian oil for 30 days, Reuters reports citing a source.
"The U.S. Treasury will extend the exemption from sanctions regarding Russian oil delivered by sea, which expired on Saturday," the publication states.
According to the agency, a number of countries have requested additional time to purchase Russian oil.
In April, the American side announced the resumption of the license for the sale of Russian fuel. According to the document, Russian oil was exempt from U.S. restrictions until May 16. It stated that transactions for the "sale, delivery, and unloading of crude oil and refined products from Russia" that were loaded onto tankers before April 17 were permitted.
