The Prime Minister candidate assures that potential partners have not yet discussed the division of portfolios.
As already reported, Andris Kulbergs, under pressure from the National Alliance, has refused to negotiate with the "Progressives." Thus, a model for a new government consisting of four forces is being considered - the United List, the National Alliance, the Union of Greens and Farmers, and "New Unity." Consultations with "New Unity" will begin tomorrow.
Prime Minister candidate Andris Kulbergs confirmed this evening in a live broadcast on Latvian TV that he plans to review expenditures not only for next year's budget, which is still being drafted by the finance ministry specialists, but also for the 2026 budget. For this purpose, Kulbergs has a meeting scheduled with the President of the Bank of Latvia tomorrow. Kulbergs reiterated the need to reduce the fund for awards and bonuses in public administration.
In turn, the leader of the Union of Greens and Farmers, Viktors Valainis, announced that it is planned to introduce basic pensions next year, meaning an increase in minimum pensions in the country, which will affect about 100,000 seniors.
Viktors Valainis also stated that he has not abandoned his fixed idea - the oversight of airBaltic is being transferred from the Ministry of Transport to the Ministry of Economics.
And Andris Kulbergs added that, if he becomes Prime Minister, he is ready to take control of the implementation of the Rail Baltica project.
The Prime Minister candidate reiterated that the distribution of ministerial posts has not yet been discussed, as it was unclear how many parties would ultimately enter the coalition.
