The suspended Director of the State Chancellery Raivis Kronbergs has left his position as of today, his former subordinates reported.
The employment relationship in the state civil service has been terminated by mutual agreement with the resigned Prime Minister Evika Silina.
Until a new head of the State Chancellery is appointed, the duties will be performed by the Deputy Director of the Chancellery for Legislative Affairs Inese Gailite.
Initially, Silina suspended Kronbergs from his duties until June 13.
As previously reported, last Thursday, the Bureau for Prevention and Combating Corruption, at the request of the Prosecutor's Office, detained Kronbergs for procedural actions in the so-called "lumberjacks' case." He was released later that same evening. However, the fallout remains.
The Cabinet of Ministers appointed Kronbergs as the Director of the State Chancellery on July 23, 2024, and he began his duties on August 12 of the same year.
