As reported to the LETA agency by the president's communication advisor Mārtiņš Drēgeris, during a meeting with the leadership of the Preiļi County Council, Rinkēvičs discussed the model for equalizing the finances of municipalities, issues of healthcare and social care, as well as changes in the school network, which is a serious problem due to negative demographic trends in the region.

At the Jānis Eglītis Preiļi State Gymnasium, the president familiarized himself with the educational process and discussed current issues with teachers and students.

Rinkēvičs also learned about the work of the Preiļi Hospital and discussed important healthcare issues for the region with its management. During his working visit, Rinkēvičs visited the farm "Viktorija" and the stable "Zirgu Oāze."

"Entrepreneurship is the foundation for regional growth, as it attracts investment, creates jobs, and contributes to infrastructure development. This is confirmed by such farms that, for several generations, have been finding new business ideas, ensuring the development not only of their own farm but of the entire region," said Rinkēvičs.

As part of the visit, the president also familiarized himself with the restored Preiļi Palace, the exhibition of the Preiļi Museum of History and Applied Arts, and then met with the residents of the region.
