Will the budget hold? It has been decided to repair the Stone Bridge in Riga 0 85

The repair of the bridge is provided for in the draft resolution on updating the action plan and investment plan for Riga for 2026-2027, which was reviewed by the Riga City Council's Urban Development Committee.

The repair costs are estimated at 8.7 million euros, with an additional 400,000 euros needed for the preparation of project documentation. The repair of the bridge is planned in accordance with the expert opinion on the necessity of such work.

The council's opposition criticized this and several other projects in the investment plan, mainly on the grounds that they are too expensive, and therefore the municipality should choose other spending priorities. One of the projects criticized by the opposition is the reconstruction of the stormwater collector at one of the intersections, with costs estimated at 1 million euros. This, in the opinion of the opposition, is expensive.

It was explained to the deputies that the project includes not only the reconstruction of the collector but also the reconstruction of the road infrastructure in the relevant sections of the streets.

The creation of forest parks and the development of other green infrastructure in the capital were also subjected to criticism.

As reported, the Riga municipality plans to start the repair of the Cable Bridge in the near future. According to the electronic procurement system, the repair will cost 69.8 million euros.
