Left-wing radicals and drug cartels: the U.S. has developed a new strategy to combat terrorism.

According to "Duty Officer in America," the White House has published the first U.S. Counterterrorism Strategy in several years. U.S. Counterterrorism Strategy 2026 expands the very definition of "terrorism." The U.S. now sees three main threats:

  • Drug cartels and transnational gangs;
  • Islamic terrorist groups, with Iran labeled as the "number one sponsor of terrorism";
  • "Supporters of violent actions — left-wing political extremists, including anarchists and anti-fascists."

The text of the document links the third category to

The third category includes, for example, those who killed Trump supporter, right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. As stated in the document, he was killed by "a radical espousing extreme transgender ideologies."

Additionally, a separate chapter is dedicated to the findings from the previous administration's work — it is claimed that under Biden, intelligence agencies were used as a political tool against conservatives. The strategy also harshly criticizes Europe for allowing uncontrolled migration.
