This year, for the second consecutive time, the state fee for issuing a passport and identity card (eID card) is significantly increased, reports the LETA agency, citing the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA).
According to the resolutions adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers on December 10, 2024, a phased increase in state fees for the issuance of passports and identity cards is provided.
Starting January 1, the state fee for issuing a passport within 10 working days is 50 euros, and within two working days — 75 euros.
For the issuance of an identity card (eID card) within 10 working days, the fee is now 30 euros, and for urgent processing within two working days — 45 euros.
In accordance with the decision on the phased increase of fees, from January 1 to December 31, 2025, the fee for issuing a passport will be 44 euros (within 10 days) and 70 euros (within two days). The fee for processing an eID card in 2025 will be 25 euros and 40 euros, respectively.
All existing benefits for obtaining identity documents for children and youth up to 20 years old, pensioners, and persons with disabilities of groups I and II remain in place. For these categories of citizens, starting January 1, 2026, the fee for issuing a passport within 10 working days will be 25 euros, and for an eID card — 15 euros.
According to the rules approved in 2024, starting January 1, 2025, the fee for issuing an identity card for foreigners will be 170 euros, and for issuing a residence permit — 45 euros (within 10 working days) or 80 euros (within two working days).
If the documents for the issuance of an identity document were submitted and the fee was paid before December 31, 2025, but the document itself is received after January 1, the fee in effect at the time of document submission will apply.
However, starting January 1, 2026, new rates of state fees will apply for the issuance of passports and eID cards.
