The responsibility for the cyberattack on JSC "Latvijas valsts meži" (LVM) has been claimed by a foreign financially motivated group using ransomware, which has carried out similar actions against enterprises and government institutions in other countries, the incident prevention agency "Cert.lv" reported to the LETA agency.
The institution notes that, in response to the incident affecting LVM's infrastructure, "Cert.lv" continues to provide support to the enterprise in investigating the incident and mitigating its consequences. Aware that there has been a data leak from the enterprise, "Cert.lv" is conducting a detailed analysis of the leaked information to identify potential vectors for further damage.
LVM and all third parties for whom "Cert.lv" sees a potential threat as a result of this incident are immediately notified and provided with recommendations for urgent and preventive actions.
The cybersecurity incident in LVM's IT infrastructure occurred last week.
Currently, LVM's IT team is gradually and systematically restoring the operation of the enterprise's internal IT systems to ensure the continuity of business operations, said Maris Kuzmins, Director of IT Infrastructure and Development at LVM, to the LETA agency on Friday.
