The Minister of Justice outlined his version of the 'benefit' of the new government.
The Minister of Justice Edwards Smiltenš (United List) expressed a very interesting thought in an interview with political technologist Jurgis Liepnieks on a YouTube channel about why even President Rinkēvičs was very eager for a change of government.
According to Ed. Smiltenš, the previous government of Siliņš was so unpopular that if it continued to operate until the elections, it would lead to total disappointment among many Euro-Atlantic (pro-Western) voters. And they would ultimately... vote with their feet, meaning they would not go to the elections at all. In turn, as the politician expressed, pro-Russian voters, on the contrary, would actively participate in the elections, and then the voting results would be very unpredictable... The politician hopes that the new government of Kulbergs will be able to restore voters' hope for positive changes in these 3-4 months.
