Due to snow and ice, traffic is difficult on main and regional roads

On Wednesday morning, due to snow and ice in various regions of Latvia, traffic is difficult on state main and regional roads, the LETA agency was informed by the State Joint Stock Company "Latvian State Roads."

Snow-covered sections of roads are being cleared and treated with anti-icing materials. To improve traffic conditions, 157 units of winter equipment are involved in road work.

Difficult traffic is observed on the Vidzeme highway (A2) from the turn to Rauna to Veclīcene, on the Valmiera highway (A3) from Strenči to Valki, on the Riga bypass road Salaspils–Babīte (A5) throughout its length, on the Daugavpils highway (A6) from Livāni to Paternieki, on the Bauska highway (A7) from the Kekava bypass to Dzimtmisa, as well as on the Jelgava highway (A8) throughout its length.

Difficult traffic is also observed on the Liepāja highway (A9) from Riga to Kalvene, on the Ventspils highway (A10) throughout its length, on the Liepāja–Rusava road (A11), on the Rēzekne highway (A12) from Varakļāni to Terehovo, on the Grebnevo–Rēzekne–Daugavpils–Medumi road (A13), on the Daugavpils bypass road (A14), and on the Rēzekne bypass (A15) — all these sections are completely affected by traffic difficulties.

On regional roads, traffic is difficult throughout Latvia.

Residents are urged to inform "Latvian State Roads" about difficult traffic conditions and other observations related to the road situation and road conditions by calling the 24-hour free information hotline at 80005555, as well as through the company's accounts on social media "X" and "Facebook."
