After reviewing complaints about possible unethical actions towards students of the Colonel Oskars Kalpaks Vocational School, the State Police found no signs of criminal behavior in the actions of the instructors, LETA reports citing the Ministry of Defense.

The police conducted an investigation into the specific case and found no violations of the law or signs of criminal offenses.

At the same time, an internal service check and audit are ongoing, during which all circumstances of the case are being assessed in more detail, and internal regulations and procedures are being reviewed to prevent similar situations in the future, the ministry reported.

It was previously reported that in September, the management of the Kalpaks vocational school received a complaint from two students regarding possible actions of instructors that, at first glance, do not meet the standards of professional ethics and the values of the educational institution.

The mentioned instructors were immediately suspended from their duties, and a service check was initiated. The school is cooperating with law enforcement agencies.

"Any professionally unethical behavior — emotional or physical impact — in any form must be eradicated at its root. Therefore, I instructed to promptly conduct an audit of the educational work at the Kalpaks school and organize training briefings for both instructors and students," emphasized Defense Minister Andris Spruds in a statement to the media.

The minister also instructed to conduct an internal audit to clarify the actual circumstances.

At the same time, the school will review its internal regulations and procedures to further strengthen safety and ethics standards within the educational institution. The school administration assured that it would take all necessary measures to prevent the possibility of similar situations in the future.

On Monday, Colonel Aivars Spriedais took over as the school director, replacing the former head, Colonel Intars Kušners. The ministry clarified that this rotation is not related to the initiated service check — the change of director was planned in advance.

Kušners completed his duties on October 6. He had led the school since its founding on July 1, 2021, and was one of the initiators of its creation and development.
