What is the deferred life syndrome?

How can this be explained?

In psychology, there is a term – deferred life syndrome, which is characterized by certain signs. A person waits for a certain event to start taking action. However, when this event approaches, they find reasons to 'cancel' it under various pretexts. For example, they may compare the vacations of their acquaintances and decide that there is no point in taking a break if they cannot do it better than they did. Moreover, they constantly have doubts: yes, I want to go to a resort, but what if there are even more attractive options?

The reasons for such behavior often root back to childhood – parents may have set conditions for fulfilling their children's wishes: new things for New Year, a doll for good grades in school, and so on. It can also be related to a habit of accumulating and saving.

A person is much more pleased with having money than with the pleasures they can obtain for it.
