Two preparations can be found in pharmacies that effectively stimulate cucumber growth, protect them from diseases, and enrich them with beneficial substances.
This is about simple means – brilliant green and iodine, which are antiseptics. Iodine is also a component of the soil, and often the earth lacks this micronutrient.
To prevent root rot, gardeners prepare a solution: in 10 liters of water, they mix 10 drops of brilliant green or iodine and pour 1 liter under each bush.
This same solution can be used to wipe the stems at the base of the cucumbers. This treatment helps to avoid rot on the fruits.
Another enemy of cucumbers is powdery mildew. To combat this disease, cucumbers are watered with the following solution: a bucket is filled with hay, poured with water, infused for several days, then strained and 10 drops of brilliant green or iodine are added.
Once a week for a month, cucumbers are watered with this solution to prevent powdery mildew and increase yield.
Among other popular folk remedies for a rich harvest is fertilization with a yeast infusion. For this:
* A 100-gram pack of yeast (fresh) is dissolved in 10 liters of water;
* then the mixture should be infused for 1-2 hours;
* each plant is fed with a glass of this nutrient mixture.
A mixture infused with ash and nettle has also proven effective: a third of a bucket is filled with nettle, half a liter of ash is added, and water is poured in. After 4-6 days, the solution is used to water, consuming one liter of the resulting liquid per bush.
For preventive purposes, the crop is sprayed every 12-15 days with this solution: in a 10-liter container with water, 1 liter of skim milk and 15-20 drops of iodine are added. A weak solution of potassium permanganate can also be used.
