How to Properly Fertilize Radishes After Germination: Tips for Gardeners

Radishes are one of the first vegetables in garden beds that are in high demand after the winter shortage.

Growing radishes can come with some difficulties. The plant may bolt, and the roots can grow small, tasteless, hard, and dry.

In this article, we will discuss how and what to fertilize radishes with to obtain healthy, crunchy, and tasty fruits.

First of all, it is essential to provide the plant with enough nitrogen, as without green mass, the root will not develop. However, it is important to maintain a balance with nitrogen.

For this, ammonium nitrate can be used — 1 tablespoon per 10 liters of water. The resulting solution is used to water the soil.

To avoid a situation where there are only tops in the bed, it is necessary to feed the roots with potassium and phosphorus. For this, nitroammophoska is applied — 15-20 grams per 1 square meter.

Gardeners note that good results come from using complex fertilizers based on potassium humate, which helps increase soil fertility.

One week after fertilization, it is recommended to sprinkle the bed with wood ash.
