6 Mistakes When Planting a Fruit Orchard That Can Lead to a Lack of Harvest

When planning to plant a fruit orchard, gardeners often forget about important aspects that can negatively affect the trees.

This approach indicates a lack of knowledge and experience, as the location and manner in which a tree will grow directly affect future yields. Ultimately, aesthetics may not be the top priority.

Let's consider the main mistakes.

1. If the plot is located on the southern side, the soil will heat up quickly and intensely, negatively impacting the growth and development of early crops.

2. Find out how deep the groundwater is. If it is close to the surface, it is better to leave the area for shrubs. Apple trees, pear trees, and cherry trees may not thrive.

3. Drafts and open spaces are also unsuitable. In winter, the ground may remain snow-free, leading to the freezing of young orchards. Additionally, such trees are poorly pollinated by bees.

4. Do not skimp and plant bushes and trees too densely. Excess shade and lack of nutrients will negatively affect growth and development, and a good harvest will be nothing more than a dream.

5. Consider the characteristics of the varieties, as many fruit trees require cross-pollination. Therefore, it is advisable to purchase several seedlings so that they take root and yield a good harvest.

6. The most important factor is the soil composition. Be sure to study what conditions your seedling needs for comfortable growth and development. It may be necessary to acidify the soil or, conversely, improve its composition.
