Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Stenberg stated that Iran executed a Swedish citizen, Dagens Nyheter.
As the minister noted, the execution took place on the morning of Wednesday, March 18.
The Swedish citizen was reportedly detained by Iranian authorities in June 2025 and sentenced to death as part of a "judicial process."
"I learned with deep sorrow that a Swedish citizen was executed in Iran this morning," said Stenberg.
Although the identity of the executed individual has not been officially disclosed, it is believed to be Habib Farajollah Cheb, who held dual citizenship of Iran and Sweden.
The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Iranian ambassador on Wednesday in protest.
