Commemorative bills will be issued soon.
The new hundred-dollar bills, which will be issued for the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States, will feature the signature of the country's president, Donald Trump, the U.S. Treasury reported. The signature of the head of the White House, Deutsche Welle writes today, will replace the treasurer's signature on the bills for the first time in 165 years.
"There is no more vivid way to commemorate the historical achievements of our great country and President Donald Trump than to place his name on the dollar bills," said U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Earlier, the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts unanimously approved the issuance of a 24-karat gold coin featuring the sitting president (in the photo), standing behind a desk with clenched fists, and the inscription "Liberty." In October 2025, the Trump administration dismissed all members of the Fine Arts Commission and appointed loyalists to the head of the White House in their place.
In December 2025, the State Department named the U.S. Institute of Peace after Trump. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington also received a new name, becoming the "Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts." The U.S. president also announced plans to build two new class "Trump" military ships for the U.S. Navy.
