The Risk of Crisis is Quite Real

Is the world's leading power facing an economic downturn?

Nothing will save us? The U.S. faces inflation above 4%

Military actions against Iran will accelerate the overall inflation rate in the U.S. by the end of March-April, but it is likely to stabilize afterward, said Mikhail Melnik, a professor of economics at Kennesaw State University in Georgia, to RTVI. However, core inflation will remain high and may exceed 4%.

Melnik also emphasized that the risk of a crisis is real. In recent weeks, there has been a simultaneous decline in the stock market, a decrease in the value of U.S. Treasury bonds, and a rise in gold prices.

"Markets are trying to react to the stagflation that the U.S. entered in the second half of last year, which is being accelerated by the conflict in the Middle East. That is, traditional models, where money flows from one instrument to another, are not working at the moment. This is a very bad sign," the expert noted.
