Minister Pevkur: Estonia did not shoot down the drones to avoid escalation with Russia.

Estonia did not shoot down Ukrainian drones in its airspace to avoid escalation with Russia. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of the Baltic Republic, Hanno Pevkur, in an interview with Postimees.

According to him, his department detected the drones in time, but the risks of interception were high. "If we had attacked this drone towards Russia, we need to understand the consequences. We have no desire to give them a reason to claim that Estonia has started a war with Russia," the politician said.

Pevkur also stated that an investigation is underway regarding the incident with the fallen drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Baltic region. If it reveals the influence of Russian electronic warfare (EW) systems on the drones, then Tallinn will hold Moscow accountable.
