Trump: Modi promised to stop buying oil from Russia.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised U.S. President Donald Trump to stop importing Russian oil. The head of the White House wrote about this on his page on the social network Truth Social following a conversation with the Indian leader.
According to Trump, Modi also agreed to significantly increase oil purchases from the U.S. and possibly from Venezuela. The President of the United States is confident that the agreement reached will ensure the end of the conflict in Ukraine.
In addition, the leaders of the two countries agreed on a trade deal under which the U.S. will reduce tariffs on Indian imports from 25 to 18 percent. New Delhi, in turn, agreed to eliminate tariff barriers on American products.
According to Trump, India will purchase American energy, technology, agricultural, coal products, and many other goods worth more than $500 billion.
"Our wonderful relationship with India will become even stronger in the future. Prime Minister Modi and I are two people who take action, which cannot be said about most," Trump announced.
