The action plan for potential threats has been updated in Riga, reported the mayor of Riga, Viesturs Kleinbergs (P), through his advisor to the LETA agency.

I want to emphasize that Riga is in close contact with the services, and there are no signs of an aerial threat in the municipality. However, considering the events of this week related to the threat to airspace, the Riga municipality has updated its action plan in case of a potential threat," noted Kleinbergs.

The mayor instructed the responsible institutions to inspect educational institutions and other public buildings of the municipality to update information on sheltering options and to check the readiness of services to respond quickly.

"I urge residents to remain calm and to use only verified sources of information," said Kleinbergs.

In the event of a possible aerial threat, he calls for following only official information through emergency notifications, as well as channels of the National Armed Forces, fire and rescue service, police, and others.

"Given the recent incidents with drones in the airspace of Latvia and other Baltic countries, as well as the alarm declared this week in Vilnius, we have developed basic algorithms for residents on how to act in the event of drone threats. An action algorithm has also been prepared for educational institutions in Riga," noted one of the city’s vice-mayors.

As reported, on Thursday, warnings about possible threats to airspace have been issued for the third consecutive day in eastern Latvia.
