Poland has proposed to the EC to ban maritime transportation of Russian oil.
Poland has proposed to the European Commission (EC) to completely ban maritime transportation services for Russian oil as part of a new sanctions package. This was reported by RMF24, citing a source.
"Poland advocates for the abolition of the currently ineffective price cap mechanism on Russian oil and its replacement with a complete ban on the provision of maritime services related to the trade of this Russian raw material," the publication states.
According to the publication, a complete ban on maritime transportation will prevent any vessels from providing services for the transportation of Russian oil, regardless of whether the vessel is on the sanctions list. Thus, the transportation of Russian oil by European vessels will be completely prohibited. It is noted that on January 30, the European Commission will hold confidential negotiations with Poland regarding this proposal, which may be included in the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions.
