The Strike with the 'Oreshnik' Sent a Signal to Europe Regarding Ukraine

NYT: the choice of target for the 'Oreshnik' strike on Ukraine is intended to send a signal to Europe.

The strike by the Russian ballistic missile 'Oreshnik' on Ukraine was carried out to send a signal to European countries. This opinion was expressed by the authors of The New York Times, who saw symbolism in the fact that the target was allegedly chosen in the western part of the country.

"The choice of western Ukraine as a target — near the border with Poland, a member of the EU and NATO — was apparently intended to send a signal to Europe, which firmly supports Kyiv in negotiations to resolve the conflict," the authors stated.

They added that the Kremlin has thus escalated the conflict, while at the same time demonstrating a restrained response to challenges in other regions of the world, including Venezuela, where U.S. military forces abducted President Nicolás Maduro, and in the North Atlantic, where the U.S. seized the Russian tanker Marinera.
