European countries are forming three divisions of 60,000 military personnel and strengthening the rapid deployment system in the Baltic states, Reuters reports.
The agency reports that this concerns the strengthening of military presence in Latvia and Estonia, which will primarily be provided by the Netherlands and Germany.
At the same time, Reuters notes that it is still unclear when this decision will take effect and how many military personnel will be under the command of the new headquarters unit in the event of any conflict.
Meanwhile, the US plans to reduce its military contribution to NATO and shift a significant part of Europe's defense onto European allies, Spiegel reports.
According to the publication, the US plans to cut its contribution of fighter jets by about a third, as well as significantly reduce the number of strategic bombers in the Alliance's system.
In addition, Washington no longer wants to provide submarines to NATO, and participation in providing destroyers and drones is also planned to be cut.
