European leaders are coordinating a joint visit to US President Donald Trump in connection with the proposed Washington plan for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, LETA reports, citing UNIAN.

According to Sky News, citing diplomatic sources in the European Union, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer discussed the possibility of a trip with leading European leaders — French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

All four politicians are coordinating their actions to prepare for a joint meeting with Trump in Washington.

Sky News reports that the visit of European leaders to the US may take place early next week, presumably on Tuesday, if the White House confirms this date.

It is expected that the main topics of discussion will be the situation in Ukraine and the new US approach to European security issues.

At the same time, a diplomatic source in the EU later clarified in a comment to Sky News that Starmer does not plan to visit Washington; however, Europe is preparing for a collective meeting with Trump.

Zelensky creates delegation for negotiations with the US and Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree to create a delegation for negotiations with the US and other international partners, as well as with representatives of Russia, LETA reports, citing Ukrainska Pravda.

The delegation includes Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov and his deputy Yevhen Ostryanskyi, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR) Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov, head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Oleg Ivashchenko, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Serhiy Kyslytsia, Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Oleksandr Poklad, and advisor to the head of the President's Office Andrii Yermak Oleksandr Bevz.

Umerov stated that Ukraine is starting consultations with the US in Switzerland regarding possible parameters for a peace agreement.

"In these days in Switzerland, we are starting high-level consultations between representatives of Ukraine and the US regarding possible parameters for a future peace agreement. Ukraine approaches this process with a clear understanding of its interests. This is the next stage of the dialogue that has been ongoing for the past few days, and its main goal is to agree on a vision for further steps," Umerov said.

He noted: "We highly value the participation of the American side and its readiness for a substantive conversation. Ukraine will continue to act responsibly, professionally, and consistently — as required by our national security."

Washington has proposed a plan to end the war in Ukraine, which appears to be largely based on Russia's demands. According to a draft obtained by AFP, it envisions the retention of occupied territories under Russian control, a commitment from Ukraine not to join NATO, a refusal to expand the alliance, and Russia's return to the G8.
