Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will visit Turkey on Wednesday, where during negotiations he will attempt to rekindle Washington's interest in ending the Russian invasion, a senior Ukrainian official confirmed to AFP on Tuesday, LETA reports citing AFP and RFE/RL.
In Ankara, Zelensky will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and his 'main goal is to ensure that the Americans get involved again' in the peace efforts, a representative of Ukraine explained.
Special envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump, Stephen Witkoff, will also arrive in Turkey on Wednesday, and he is expected to meet with Zelensky as well, Reuters reports citing sources.
Announcing the upcoming visit, Zelensky noted that the purpose of the trip is to 'revitalize negotiations' for peace with Russia.
'Bringing the end of the war closer at any cost is Ukraine's main priority. We are also working on resuming exchanges and returning prisoners,' Zelensky emphasized.
On Tuesday, the President of Ukraine is visiting Spain.
