The State of Palestine Will Not Be Established - Israeli Defense Minister

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz commented on the U.S. proposal for a resolution that will be put to a vote tomorrow in the UN Security Council.

The document proposes to outline a path to the establishment of a Palestinian state.

"Israel's position is clear: a Palestinian state will not be established," he said.

According to the minister, the Israel Defense Forces will destroy all tunnels in Gaza, and the terrorist organization Hamas will be disarmed.

He also touched on negotiations regarding an agreement with Syria. According to Katz, the IDF will remain on the top of Mount Hermon and in the security zone.

His remarks came three days before the meeting between President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House and against the backdrop of the government's efforts to normalize relations with Riyadh.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid previously criticized the U.S. for selling F-35 aircraft to Saudi Arabia.

"Saudi Arabia is seeking dominance in relations with the U.S., and this weakens Israel's power," Lapid believes.

For his part, Yair Golan launched a critique against Netanyahu, accusing him of selling Israel's security.

"Netanyahu is once again selling Israel's security. He refuses to discuss a political settlement with the Palestinians because he fears Smotrich. He is abandoning the qualitative advantage of the IDF, neglecting our security interests, and jeopardizing the future of the country for generations just for his political survival. This is exactly the same policy that led to the slogan 'Hamas is a valuable asset' and to the catastrophe of October 7," he stated.
