The growth of the segment is supported by government subsidies, programs for replacing old equipment, and dynamic expansion of charging infrastructure.

A plan for a large-scale transition to a new stage of development in the commercial transport market has been presented in China: by 2030, 40% of new heavy trucks (weighing over 12 tons) in the country are expected to be vehicles powered by new energy sources (NEV). Their share in the overall fleet of heavy-duty vehicles is planned to reach 20%, which corresponds to approximately 1.6 million units.

Specific targets have been set for short regional freight routes with high transport intensity (for example, within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei agglomeration), which are planned to be transitioned to new types of fuel even more actively — the number of freight NEV models on these routes is expected to increase to 80%.

The new plan not only envisions the renewal of the vehicle fleet but also the development of infrastructure. By 2030, around 3,000 charging and battery stations are planned to be built as part of the concept of creating so-called "low-carbon highways" — transport corridors with reduced harmful emissions spanning 30,000 km.

According to industry sources, by 2025, electric models are expected to account for nearly one-third of new heavy truck sales in China. The growth of the segment is supported by government subsidies, programs for replacing old equipment with new, dynamic expansion of charging infrastructure, and significant successes of Chinese battery manufacturers.

The market for electric trucks in China is developing rapidly, accounting for about a quarter of total sales.

The segments are divided into heavy commercial electric vehicles (tractors) and urban light-duty trucks.
