Ostapenko Climbs Two Positions in WTA Ranking

Latvia's top player Alena Ostapenko has climbed two positions in the latest Women's Tennis Association (WTA) singles ranking, now sitting at 24th, reports LETA.

In recent weeks, Ostapenko competed in the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells, where she was eliminated in the third round. She will next participate in a tournament of the same level in Miami, starting from the second round.

Meanwhile, Daria Semenistaya dropped four positions and is now ranked 103rd, leaving the top hundred.

Anastasia Sevastova climbed two positions (186th), while several players experienced a drop in the rankings: Adelina Lachinova fell by 19 positions (606th), Beatrice Zeltina by 40 (640th), Camilla Bartone by 61 (740th), and Diana Marcinkevich by three (826th). The other Latvian tennis players in the rankings saw an increase: Elza Tomase rose by 37 places (898th), Sabine Rutlauka by 120 places (925th), Daniela Darta Feldmane by five places (1274th), and Margarita Ignatjeva by nine (1474th).

The top of the ranking is held by Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka, with Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina rising to second place, and Polish player Iga Swiatek in third. They are followed by Americans Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, and Amanda Anisimova, as well as Italian Jasmine Paolini, who maintained their positions. Ukrainian Elina Svitolina and Canadian Victoria Mboko climbed one position each, surpassing Russian Mirra Andreyeva.

In the WTA doubles ranking, Ostapenko remains in 12th place this week. Semenistaya climbed three positions (178th), and Sevastova also rose three places (507th). The ranking features another 12 Latvian tennis players.

The leader of the doubles ranking is Belgian Elise Mertens.
