Trump is heading to the G7 summit: who else is participating and what will be discussed?
The summit will take place in Évian-les-Bains on the shores of Lake Geneva from June 15 to 17. In addition to the traditional participants — the USA, Canada, Japan, the UK, France, Italy, Germany, and the EU — Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Egypt have also been invited to discuss the situation in the Middle East.
The main topic for Trump will be the Strait of Hormuz and the resolution of the conflict with Iran, sources from AP report. At the same time, the US president is "disappointed with European allies," who he claims have let him down in the Persian Gulf, Reuters specifies.
The French side, in turn, as reported by RTVI US, seeks to avoid open confrontation. Trump's first talks at the summit will be with French President Emmanuel Macron. Meanwhile, the head of the White House has already threatened France with 100% tariffs on wine and champagne if the digital tax for American IT corporations is not canceled.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will be a guest at the summit. According to him, he proposed to Russian President Vladimir Putin to meet in person during the G7. Zelensky shared this with journalists in Kyiv.
