Australian Open. Mira Andreyeva Repeats Unique Achievement of Venus Williams

The seventh-ranked player in the world, 18-year-old Russian tennis player Mira Andreyeva has reached the fourth round of the Australian Open for the third consecutive time.

In the third round of this year's Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne, Andreyeva defeated Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse (53 WTA) with a score of 6-3, 6-4.

Andreyeva became the first female tennis player since seven-time Grand Slam champion American Venus Williams to reach at least the Round of 16 in her first three Australian Opens. Williams achieved this feat in 1998, 1999, and 2001 (she did not participate in 2000).

Mira Andreyeva has yet to advance past the fourth round at the Australian Open. She will compete for a spot in the quarterfinals against Ukrainian Elina Svitolina.
