Seven-time Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1, 45-year-old American tennis player Venus Williams has received a wild card for the WTA-250 tournament in Auckland, New Zealand.

This was reported by the tournament's press service. The tournament will take place from January 5 to January 11.

In 2025, Venus Williams played four singles matches, winning one of them. In the first round of the WTA-500 tournament in Washington, USA, she defeated compatriot Peyton Stearns. At the 2025 US Open in doubles, Venus reached the quarterfinals partnering with Canadian Leylah Fernandez, where they lost to the world's top pair, Barbora Strycova (Czech Republic) / Taylor Townsend (USA).
