Edgars Rinkēvičs has decided to work without weekends.
Today, the president spoke with representatives of all parliamentary factions individually. Tomorrow, the head of state will hold a joint meeting with delegates from all parliamentary parties, after which he will conduct a press briefing.
It seems that Edgars Rinkēvičs has decided to quickly nominate a candidate for prime minister, instructing him to form a government as soon as possible (likely within a maximum of two weeks) that could gain a mandate of trust in the Saeima. It is unknown who the president will ultimately choose. Formally, among the three parties of the future coalition, the Union of Greens and Farmers has the most votes in the Saeima. However, in light of the "wood processing scandal," the president may not risk nominating a candidate from the "Greens and Farmers" V. Valainis. In this case, a good chance exists for the candidate from the United List, Andris Kulbergs.
