The deputies will also consider the situation of holders of both Latvian and Russian passports.

Due to the upcoming Easter holidays, the deputies of the Saeima will hold a plenary session one day earlier - on Wednesday, April 1st. Heated discussions are expected regarding the latest opposition initiative for the resignation of a minister. This time, the deputies of the 'Latvia First' faction are calling on their colleagues to express no confidence in Defense Minister Andris Sprūds for failing to create an effective drone arrival notification system.

On the eve of this, the deputies of the Saeima Defense and Internal Affairs Committee will discuss the possibility of extending the deadline for submitting proposals for a new immigration bill. Dozens of amendments have been submitted to this bill at the third reading stage. One of them, from National Alliance deputy Jānis Dombrava, stipulates that the Cabinet of Ministers must suspend the issuance of new residence permits and long-term visas to third-country nationals if the number of third-country nationals exceeds 5% of the number of Latvian citizens residing in the country.

In turn, the deputies of the subcommittee on internal security will discuss the situation of holders of dual citizenship - Latvia and Russia. It is noteworthy that the Russian side does not disclose information about which Latvian subjects also hold a Russian passport.
