The prosecutor's office has submitted to the court the case regarding the special flights of former Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins, in which the only accused is the former head of the State Chancellery Janis Citskovskis.

The prosecutor's office informed the LETA agency that he has been charged with failure to perform the duties of a public official, resulting in serious consequences. Initially, another person was involved in the case, who had the right to defense, but that person's status has been changed, and he is now a witness.

According to the prosecutor's office, the pre-trial investigation also assessed the potential responsibility of the former prime minister, several officials, and employees of the prime minister's bureau, but ultimately concluded that it is the director of the State Chancellery, as the head of the institution, who is responsible for the legality and effectiveness of the use of state budget funds for the acquisition of services related to the prime minister's foreign trips.

As a result of this person's inaction, Latvia suffered damage amounting to 89,382 euros, which, according to the law, constitutes a criminal offense.

During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that for four foreign trips of the prime minister, the State Chancellery illegally ordered and paid for five special flights, despite the possibility of timely purchasing regular commercial flights for the members of the prime minister's delegation.
