The parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Culture plans to completely revise the integration policy.
Recently appointed parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Ivars Abolins, who previously headed the National Council for Electronic Media, stated on the social network X about a new approach to societal integration: "Cohesion and integration of society must occur based on the Latvian language. Under the previous Minister of Culture, Agnes Laizane, in my opinion, much happened bilingually or even based on the Russian language. This is unacceptable and will not happen anymore.
In Latvia, there is one state language - the Latvian language, and immigrants or students from third countries should not be immediately thrust into the Russian information space upon arrival, thereby essentially continuing the Russification that began during the Soviet occupation."
