Parliamentarians seem to have decided to rehearse the 'budget sufferings' and will be sitting at work until late in the evening.
If in the debates on language policy, which lasted more than four hours today in the Saeima, 35 people participated - deputies, ministers, and parliamentary secretaries, then in the debates on the bill regarding Latvia's withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention, 32 people are planned to participate - deputies and parliamentary secretaries! This means that the parliamentary session will stretch into the late evening.
It is quite possible that this way the people's representatives decided to conduct a dress rehearsal for the upcoming very long debates on the 2026 budget and budget package, which are expected in a couple of weeks. However, the Speaker of the Saeima has already warned that there will be no more late-night sessions and that the parliament's work will continue only until 21:00. If the budget bills are not considered by 21:00, the session will continue the next day.
