After several cold and windy days, Latvia will gradually start to warm up. Already this weekend, in many areas of the country, air temperatures will exceed +20 degrees, and the wind will noticeably weaken.

This upcoming weekend, Latvia will finally experience calmer and warmer weather. Meteorologists forecast that after strong winds and cool days, air temperatures will gradually rise, and precipitation will significantly decrease.

However, before that, the country will still have to endure an unsettled Thursday.

In many areas, brief rain showers are expected, with thunderstorms and hail possible in some places. The northwestern wind will strengthen again — gusts may reach 14–19 meters per second, and be even stronger during thunderstorms. Air temperatures on Thursday will remain quite low for the end of May — only +11…+16 degrees.

Starting Friday, the weather will begin to change. Rain will become localized, the wind will noticeably weaken, and the air will gradually warm up to +13…+18 degrees.

Truly spring-like, and in some places almost summer-like weather is expected on Saturday and Sunday. In many areas of the country, temperatures will rise above +20 degrees.

At the same time, nights will remain cool — in some places, temperatures may drop to +3 degrees.

After several weeks of sharp weather fluctuations, the residents of Latvia will finally be able to feel the approach of summer not just by the calendar.

Meteorologists also predict that the next week will be warm and humid. Rain is expected frequently, however, the average air temperature will be about two degrees above the climatic norm.

According to current forecasts, it is in the coming days that meteorological summer may begin in Latvia — a period when the average daily temperature consistently exceeds +15 degrees.

After a cold May and regular stormy gusts, this change in weather will be the first full sensation of the approaching summer for many.
