“This is some wild disinformation,” the Ministry of Defense assessed the statement disseminated by the ruling party “New Unity.”
The Director of the Department of the Ministry of Defense, Guna Gavrilko, assessed the report of a 40% staff turnover in her department:
“Some wild disinformation is circulating about personnel changes in the Ministry of Defense. Nothing special has changed in the last 6 years, and everything is roughly the same.”
She provides figures indicating that in 2024, the turnover in the Ministry of Defense was 14.2%, last year it was 17.4%, and as of April this year, it is 6.3%.
This is also not insignificant, but clearly less than the 40 percent that “New Unity” is worried about.
“These percentages have not changed in ten years. As many leave, just as many come. There is a significant rotation within the sector – people leave the ministry but go to subordinate institutions,” Gavrilko explains.
By the way, she chose not to respond to the question that appeared under her post: “So ‘New Unity’ is lying again?”
As reported by bb.lv, in a message republished by Foreign Minister Baiba Broka, it states that according to “New Unity,” the staff turnover in the Ministry of Defense of Latvia is 40 percent. And this is in peacetime.
