On Monday, Latvia is expected to have spring-like warm weather—with temperatures in Kurzeme rising to +20 degrees. At the same time, meteorologists warn of the continuing high fire danger in the forests.

The start of the new week in Latvia will be warm, especially in the western part of the country.

According to meteorologists, on Monday, the maximum air temperature will range from +14 degrees in Latgale to +20 degrees in Kurzeme.

The sky will be partly cloudy. In Latgale, more clouds are expected; however, significant precipitation is not forecasted yet.

A light to moderate southern and southeastern wind will blow. In western Latvia, gusts of wind may reach up to 13 meters per second in places.

In Riga, the day will pass without rain. With variable cloudiness, the air in the capital will warm up to about +18 degrees.

After cool nights and recent frosts, such temperatures will feel almost like the beginning of summer—especially in the sunny areas of Kurzeme.

At the same time, warm and relatively dry weather increases the risk of forest fires.

The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre warns that high fire danger remains in forests in many areas of the country.

This means that even a small source of fire—a cigarette butt, a campfire, or a spark—can quickly lead to the ignition of dry grass and forest litter.

Meteorologists also note that the weather in the region is beginning to be influenced by an intensifying cyclone over Central Europe.

Atmospheric pressure in Latvia on Monday will be 1007–1012 hPa.
