In the past 24 hours, 13 drivers were detained in Latvia for driving under the influence of alcohol, and one more driver who may have been under the influence of narcotic substances, the State Police reported.
During the organization of traffic management, 436 decisions were made regarding administrative offenses, including 182 for speeding, as well as one for aggressive driving style.
The highest number of speeding violations was recorded in the Vidzeme region, where 57 cases were documented. In Kurzeme, 43 such violations were identified, in Latgale and Zemgale - 35 each, and in Riga and its surroundings - 12.
In connection with driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, five administrative offense proceedings and eight criminal proceedings have been initiated. Three vehicles have been confiscated, and the cost of the vehicles used at the time of the offense will be recovered from six other drivers.
